harry potter brides

Is your Bride a Potter fan?

Enchant your guests and bring out your magical side with a Harry Potter hen party! Hen parties are made so much more fun if you give them a theme or personalise them. So if you have a bride that is a Potter fanatic and has always dreamed of delving into Hogwarts, why not throw her a hen party that is good enough to frighten away the dementors?

Planning your Harry Potter hen party, will be just as magical as having it! There are so many little details you can add to it to make your own wizarding world of a hen do. You can have fun organising the spellbinding decorations to the charming food! Here at the Hen Fairy we have expecto patronumed you a muggle’s guide to making your hen party absolutely spectacular!.  It’s all in the detail and here are some of our favourite ideas at the Hen Fairy to make your Harry Potter Hen Party the best:

The Décor
To start, you will need turn your venue into the wonderful universe of J.K Rowling!  Why not mesmerise your bride by creating her very own platform 9¾ to enter through in style!  You can turn the front door of your accommodation into the mystical platform itself. Inside your accommodation, you can recreate the Great Hall; add flickering candles hanging from the ceiling in true Hogwarts style by using LED replicas and fishing line to your ceiling. Your Harry Potter celebrations would be incomplete without wands for each of your guests! You can easily make these using chopsticks, a hot glue gun and a lick of brown paint, this is affordable and easy to make, but really does give your celebrations that finished and authentic touch.

The Games
Party games are also a must at any hen party, and a Harry Potter hen party is no different. Why not pin the tail on the Hippogriff? You can even use a Gryffindor scarf to cover everyone’s eyes.  Our favourite game though is Quidditch beer pong!  This game has the usual cups on either side, but is made more beguiling with the addition of three rings, bats, a Snitch and a “Snitch Cup”!  Start by assigning each team a House using the Sorting Hat before you play this enchanting game.

The Nibbles
Wow your bride by magicking up a some tasty treats fit for any Wizards. Create edible golden snitches using Ferrero Rochers and feathers; be careful though as these delicious sweets have a tendency of going pretty quickly, so catch them while you can! Why not make some Harry Potter decorated cookies or a Hogwarts inspired cake. Obviously, you cannot forget all the candy you can purchase on the food trolley in the Honeydukes Express, from chocolate frogs to jelly slugs and pumpkin pasties. You can even get artistic with savoury snacks, by making your own cheesy broomsticks using pretzel sticks and cheese strips – these succulent snacks will give the Nimbus 2000 a run for its money!

The Drinks
Of course, it would not be a traditional Hen Party without some alcoholic concoctions.  Whip up a boozy potion making station for cocktails and include some classic Harry Potter beverages such as Unicorn Blood, Butterbeer and Wolfsbane potion! These will absolutely go down a treat!

You can even find a trolley disappearing into the magical realm through a wall if you head towards the entrance to Platforms 9, 10 and 11 on the west side of the station. You and the hens can then discover Leadenhall Market which was used as Diagon Alley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The entrance to the wizard’s pub, the Leaky Cauldron, can also be seen in real life as an opticians in Bull’s Head Passage.

So what’s stopping you from making the Bride’s dreams come true of joining J.K Rowling’s Wizarding World? A Harry Potter hen do is definitely one that will be truly unforgettable (unless you drink too many potions) and one that will utterly transfix the Bride-to-be! So, if you have a bride, that swears she’s not a muggle, throw a wonderful wizarding hen party!
